Manual Preaching

Let’s dive into the accusative prepositions. I hope you remember those nifty accusative prepositions as you are about to use them in this Preaching. In case you need to refresh your memory, here they are again:

  • entlang - along (it's rather a post-position as it is written after the noun)
  • durch - through
  • um - around
  • gegen - around
  • für - for
  • bis - until
  • ohne - without

The most difficult preposition among these is "für" which is why we'll focus on it here. It is difficult because in EN you use "for" a lot more often than in German and if you think from EN, you'll overuse it. The best way to address this problem is by making yourself familiar with common expressions that require "für" which then will slowly override what you have learned.

Example
für jemanden (=jdn) kochen - to cook for someone (=s/o)
A: Für wen kochst du?
B: Ich koche für dich!
A: Für mich? Warum denn für mich?
B: Ach, einfach nur so.

Pattern
A: Für wen trigger du?
B: Ich trigger für dich!
A: Für mich? Warum denn für mich?
B: Ach, einfach nur so.

If the text Speechnotes transcribed is different by a lot from the transcription below, don't worry about it. You will do this a couple more times and you will see an improvement. If Speechnotes doesn't understand you, try to speak slowly, more articulated and use an external microphone e.g. a headset.
