Listen and Repeat

This step trains your listening and pronunciation skills. It prepares you for real conversations. In a real conversation, though, you won’t have to listen to every single word as you do here. So, your training will be a bit harder than necessary. You don’t mind, do you?

This is basically the same as the dictation that you got to know already. Just that this time you won't write anything down. You "simply" repeat what you hear.

Use a headset (not just headphones), use a transcription software (e.g. Speechnotes) and follow these steps:

  1. Start the recording.
  2. Listen to a piece of the audio on another device then push pause.
  3. Repeat out loud what you have just heard.
  4. Whenever you feel like it, stop the recording and listen to the original audio again. (read along the text while doing so).
  5. Compare the transcription with the original lesson text below and copy it e.g. into a Text Difference Checker
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 once or twice.
